The protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPR) concerns virtually every industry. Moreover, internationalization of the marketplace has caused the issues of intellectual property protection and international trade to become entwined. CBP is responsible for preventing importation of products that infringe trademarks and copyrights that have been recorded with the agency, as well as enforcing Section 337 exclusion orders (issued by the U.S. International Trade Commission and typically relating to goods that infringe patents) and preventing importation of counterfeit goods. Conducted by distinguished leading experts in the field of international trade regulation, this hands-on presentation will provide attendees with a comprehensive discussion of the effectiveness of trade laws to prevent unfairly traded imports.
